Frequently Asked Questions

What areas do you cover?

From our base in Huntingdon we can reach a wide area, including Cambridge, Peterborough, Kettering, Northampton, Milton Keynes, Bedford, Stevenage and parts of Essex, Suffolk & Norfolk. Just ring & ask if you are not sure.

What kind of quality are the doors?

Our doors are of comparable, if not better, quality than all the more well known brands you see advertised on TV. We have a range of styles and prices to suit. We do not however, have the same financial overheads so we are able to supply and fit at much lower prices. All our doors are fully covered by our 10 year guarantee. See the brochure for details.

Can I see the doors?

To maintain low costs that we can pass on to you, the customer, we do not have a dedicated showroom.
You are welcome to visit our factory display area in Huntingdon, near Dunelm just off A14, by appointment 01480 417415.

How do I order?

Firstly, contact us and we will send you a brochure and price list.
This will give to time to consider the type of wardrobe you like and allow you to work out if it is in budget for you.
If you then decide you would like a SMA wardrobe, just give us a ring and we will come to your home, take accurate measurements and give you our quote.
We ask for a 25% deposit at time of order.

How long will my order take to arrive?

We aim to install your wardrobe within 6 weeks from the date of order.
Generally, the wait is 3-4 weeks.
More urgent orders can also be undertaken in certain circumstances, please ring us to discuss.

I'm having the room decorated/carpet laid. Should I do this before the wardrobe is installed?

Yes. This is not essential but always looks better.
SMA wardrobes sit on the carpet or wood flooring so it is easier to have it laid before the wardrobe is in place and the flooring is then continuous from the track to the back wall. It is messier & takes longer to paint around the wardrobe after it is installed.

How will I know when my wardrobe is coming?

We will contact you to discuss a fitting date when your wardrobe has been made.
If a particular day of the week is more convenient for you, say if you work part-time, let us know and we can fit in with your requirements.
If your decorating/carpet doesn’t get done as quickly as you anticipated, don’t worry – we can be flexible.

What is the depth of the wardrobe?

We recommend a depth of 25" (625mm) to leave 21" for the hangers behind the doors. However, we can make wardrobes shallower where necessary. Your wardrobe will be made to measure so the depth depends on your room!

How long will it take to fit my wardrobe?

Generally we will arrive between 9.30 – 10.30am and finish the same day. We have plenty of dust sheets to cover all your carpets and bed.

What do I do to prepare?

The space where the wardrobe is to be fitted must be cleared and any old wardrobes removed. The bed and other furniture can stay in the room but all cluttered surfaces should be cleared.

Can you remove my old wardrobe?

Yes, we offer a demolition and disposal service for around £100. Ask for a price list.

Who will I be dealing with?

The company is run by husband & wife team Mike & Emma. Both undertake sales calls while Emma runs the office & Mike does the installations. With hundreds of installations completed, we understand all the pitfalls and how to avoid them.
We don’t use contractors and give a friendly & efficient service.
At SMA we are less interested in the time that we finish and more interested in the quality of the finish.

What if I have a problem with my finished wardrobe?

If you find a problem with your wardrobe after it is fitted you should tell us immediately. Only a very small percentage of wardrobes ever develop a problem- it is almost always a door that rolls open a small way by itself - ALL problems have a simple solution which we will attend to without delay. All our doors are fully guaranteed.
